how to clear pimples and dark spots on face

Rashi

I am really struggling with my skin lately. For the past few months, I've been dealing with a ton of small pimples that keep popping up on my forehead and chin, plus dark spots that seem to be getting worse. I don't know if it's from stress or something I’m eating, but reviewing pics from a few months ago, the difference is kinda shocking. Like, my face used to be pretty clear and now it’s like a pimple party. I tried a bunch of over-the-counter stuff to clear the pimples but nothing seems to be working. I’m also using some photoshopping moves on social media which is exhausting — it is silly but hey, I'm holding it together. My friends suggested natural remedies but then I read how those can also mess up your skin sometimes. I really wanna know, how to clear pimples and dark spots on face? Are there specific treatments that can tackle both at the same time? Just feel like I'm in a battle with my own face here, and I need a game plan. Help me out, please!

When you’re dealing with persistent pimples and dark spots, it’s important to address both issues with a targeted approach that tackles the root causes, likely a mix of sebum production, bacterial activity, and skin cell turnover, and any inflammation. For pimples, over-the-counter products containing benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid can be helpful. They work to reduce bacteria and help exfoliate the skin, respectively, making them excellent for acne. If these aren’t effective on their own, a topical retinoid, like adapalene, could be a more powerful alternative, as it speeds up cell turnover and prevents clogged pores. These can be found in both prescription and some non-prescription forms. Consider using them every night or every other night if your skin is sensitive, and be prepared that retinoids can make your skin more sensitive to sunlight, so adopting a habit of daily sunscreen usage is key. For dark spots, also referred to as post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, products containing ingredients like niacinamide, vitamin C, or azelaic acid can help lighten these areas over time. They can be integrated into your routine along with acne treatments, applied after cleansing but before moisturizing. These ingredients not only target pigmentation but can also improve skin texture and brightness, offering dual benefits. However, adjusting your diet by reducing “sugar and dairy” consumption could help as they are often linked to acne flares in some people. Additionally, ensure a balanced lifestyle with regular sleep, stress management, and hydration. Since everyone’s skin is unique, especially if over-the-counter solutions aren’t cutting it, seeing a dermatologist is wise. They can assess you for possible prescription treatments that might have a more significant impact, such as antibiotics or oral isotretinoin for stubborn acne. It’s crucial also to avoid any harsh scrubbing or popping pimples, which can exacerbate scarring and dark spots. Also, try to be patient and consistent, as these treatments can take several weeks to demonstrate visible improvements.
