how to take apple cider vinegar - #22120

Keya

I am really struggling with this whole apple cider vinegar thing. I've read everywhere that it’s supposed to help with digestion and weight loss, and I thought it would be a good idea to try it. But, like, how to take apple cider vinegar has become a bit of a question for me. I’ve started adding it to water and drinking it before meals, but sometimes it’s just so strong that I want to gag, honestly. I’ve heard people say you should drink it on an empty stomach, or mix it with honey. Is mixing it with honey a good way to take apple cider vinegar? And what about the amount? Like, how much is too much? I did some Googling and found all these different recommendations. One site says as little as one tablespoon, and another says up to three tablespoons a day. How do I know what’s best? I even tried it in salad dressing but felt it overpowered the flavor. Do you think that if I keep trying to use it this way, how to take apple cider vinegar will eventually get easier for me? I'm kind of worried I'll just give up and waste the bottle I bought. Any advice from those who've been there would be awesome!

Trying to incorporate apple cider vinegar (ACV) into your routine can definitely be a bit tricky. You’re right that it’s often touted for digestion and potential weight loss benefits, but it’s crucial to remember that scientific evidence supporting these claims is not very robust. If you’ve decided to give it a shot, here are some practical tips. When diluting ACV in water, a common recommendation is mixing 1-2 tablespoons with at least 8 ounces of water to reduce the acidity and make it more palatable. Drinking it straight can harm your tooth enamel or cause irritation in your throat or stomach, so always dilute it. Mixing it with honey can soften the flavor, and there’s no harm in trying that if it helps with the taste, as long as you’re mindful of the added sugar. Be cautious about the quantity you consume; up to 2 tablespoons twice a day is often cited as a safe upper limit, but start small and see how your body reacts. It’s easier on the stomach if you consume it with food rather than on an empty stomach. As for incorporating it into salad dressings, adjusting the proportions might help. Combine it with oils, herbs, and other flavors like mustard or garlic to balance it out. If taste sensitivity is a barrier, consider using it less frequently or trying other ways like ACV capsules, but consult with a healthcare provider first to ensure they don’t interact with any medications or conditions. Finally, if it’s causing discomfort or isn’t enjoyable, it’s perfectly okay to stop using it. Health is about what works safely and sustainably for you, and there are plenty of other ways to support digestion and manage weight. If at any point you experience adverse effects, such as stomach upset or irritation, it would be wise to discontinue its use.
