why hair fall

Khushi

I am seriously worried about my hair fall. It started a few months back, like little strands everywhere, and I thought maybe it was just stress from work. But now, I notice it in my brush and on my clothes, and I can’t help but ask, why hair fall seems to be happening to me? I’ve tried different shampoos and even some home remedies, but it doesn’t seem to help much. I was brushing my hair last night, and I swear I lost like a whole handful! I've also read about various reasons why hair fall happens, from hormonal changes to diet issues. My diet isn’t the best right now. I just grabbed whatever I can during lunch breaks, which I guess is not great. Do you think if I start eating healthier, it would help? Also, could stress really be messing with my hair? I thought it wasn't that big of a deal but now im thinking, why hair fall might be a sign of something more serious? I keep second-guessing myself about whether to see a doctor or a dermatologist for this. Any advice on why hair fall might be happening and what steps I should take would really be appreciated.

Doctors' responses

Hair fall can indeed be quite concerning and there are several reasons behind it. Since it started a few months ago, factors like stress, diet, hormonal changes, and even genetics might be playing a role. Stress can affect hair follicles, potentially leading to increased shedding, a condition known as telogen effluvium. You also mentioned dietary habits—deficiencies in key nutrients like iron, zinc, and protein can contribute to hair loss. Prioritizing a balanced diet with these nutrients might definitely help improve the situation. Hormonal changes, especially if linked to thyroid issues or polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), could also be influencing your hair fall. If you suspect any of these, it’s important to get blood tests to rule out these conditions. If hair fall persists despite lifestyle changes, consulting a dermatologist or healthcare provider would be wise, as they can assess for underlying conditions and provide targeted treatments. Consider incorporating stress-reduction techniques like mindfulness or regular exercise. Checking any medications you’re using might also be important, as some can have hair loss as a side effect. While trying different shampoos is not wrong, it’s crucial to address the root cause. If hair fall is severe after self-care improvements, a professional evaluation will offer the best path forward. Worsening hair loss or accompanying symptoms like scalp irritation are always reasons to seek advice promptly.
