daily sex is good or bad

Shlok

I am having this kinda confusing debate with myself about whether daily sex is good or bad. A few weeks ago, my partner and I decided to spice things up and go for daily sex, just to see how it feels. At first, it was amazing!! Like, the intimacy was through the roof and we were both really happy. But then, after about a week, I started feeling kinda drained, like physically and emotionally, and I was wordering if daily sex is really good for our health. We often joked about being like a "sex-crazy couple" and how much fun it was, but I can't shake the feeling that maybe we overdid it? Sometimes, my body gets really sore afterwards and I've noticed my energy levels dropping. Is that normal? I mean, are we supposed to feel tired afterwards or is my body just telling me daily sex isn’t good for me? I’ve read some articles saying daily sex can boost your mood and others claim it can lead to exhaustion. Like, how do I know if we should keep this up or just tone it down a bit? What do you guys think? Is daily sex really good or bad overall?

Doctors' responses

The reality is that whether daily sex is good or bad largely depends on personal factors such as your current health status, your individual physiology, and how you and your partner feel about it emotionally and physically. The truth is, physical intimacy like sex can bring a lot of benefits. It can indeed boost mood, potentially reduce stress levels, and foster a closer emotional connection with your partner. However, what you’ve described about feeling drained physically and emotionally suggests that your body might be telling you to slow down. It’s possible that daily sex could lead to fatigue, soreness, or reduced energy, especially if it’s involving a lot of vigorous activity without sufficient rest. Your body might be reacting to a fairly intense period of activity in ways that aren’t harmful but could be a signal to re-evaluate the frequency. If you’re experiencing soreness or a significant drop in energy levels, try taking a brief break or reducing the frequency to see if those symptoms improve. Remember, balance and adequate recovery time are essential in anything physically challenging. There’s no one-size-fits-all answer and no set frequency that’s ‘right’ for everyone; the key is that it should feel comfortable and enjoyable rather than tiring or compulsory. If the issues continue, it might be useful to consult a healthcare provider to rule out any other underlying concerns. Listen to what feels right for you both emotionally and physically, and adjust accordingly.
