is amla good for liver - #22987

Aayan

I am feeling really confused about something and hope someone can help. A couple of months back, I started getting these weird stomach pains and my doctor ran some tests that showed my liver enzymes were higher than normal. Since then, I've been trying to figure out ways to support my liver health. I came across this thing about amla, and I'm just curious, is amla good for liver health? I mean, I've read all this stuff online saying it’s packed with vitamin C and antioxidants which sound great, but I wonder if that really means is amla good for liver function? Like, can it help reduce the enzyme levels or something? My friend keeps telling me I should be drinking amla juice every morning, but I don’t know if that’s legit or just a fad. I’ve tried it a few times now, and honestly, it tastes kinda weird but whatever. I'm just really hoping to find natural remedies to complement my treatment and understand if is amla good for my liver. Anyone has experience with this or insights on how to incorporate it into my diet properly? It’s all a bit overwhelming, and I don’t wanna make things worse! Thanks for any advice!

Amla, known as Indian gooseberry, has indeed been noted for its high vitamin C content and antioxidant properties, which theoretically could benefit liver health. Some studies suggest that these antioxidants might help in reducing oxidative stress and inflammation in the liver, which is a common cause of elevated liver enzymes. However, while there’s some evidence suggesting amla may support liver function, it’s important to keep in mind that research is still ongoing, and most studies have been small or in early stages. The role of amla in managing liver enzymes or reversing liver damage isn’t conclusively established, so it shouldn’t replace any treatment your doctor has prescribed. Drinking amla juice every morning is generally safe for most people, but if it tastes odd to you, explore different ways to include it in your diet, like adding it to smoothies or using powdered forms in cooking. It’s also essential to monitor your liver enzymes periodically as advised by your doctor. Additionally, focus on a complete strategy for liver health: consume a balanced diet, limit alcohol intake, avoid unnecessary medications or supplements that can burden the liver, and maintain a healthy weight. Before making any significant changes to your diet, particularly if you’re dealing with health issues, it is wise to discuss with your healthcare provider or a nutritionist to ensure it’s appropriate and safe for your individual health needs.
