what happens if we eat amla daily - #23145

Krishna

I am super curious, like what happens if we eat amla daily? I’ve been reading a lot about it after my grandma swore by it for her health. Last month, I started adding dried amla to my morning smoothies, thinking it wouldn’t hurt, right? My friend said it could boost my immunity and help with digestion. But then I started wondering, what happens if we eat amla daily and maybe have too much? I mean, I've also read that it can be a bit sour, and I might even have had some tummy issues like bloating after eating too much of it! It’s confusing because some places say it's full of vitamin C and antioxidants. Also, should I be concerned about how much is too much? I read one forum where someone said they felt more energetic after a week of eating amla daily, but then another said they had stomach cramps. I dunno, could these side effects be related to the daily amla intake too? Just trying to get a clearer picture here, like what happens if we eat amla daily?! Need some solid advice before I dive deeper into this routine!

Doctors' responses

Eating amla daily can be beneficial, as it is rich in vitamin C and antioxidants. Including amla in your diet may boost immunity, support digestion, and even contribute to healthier skin and hair. Its high vitamin C content encourages iron absorption and helps maintain collagen, which is important for skin elasticity and joint health. Antioxidants in amla can protect cells from damage and have been linked to a lower risk of chronic diseases. However, consuming too much amla can cause digestive discomfort, such as bloating or diarrhea, likely due to its high fiber and acid content. This is common with increased intake of any fiber-rich food, so moderation is key. If you experience stomach cramps or other side effects, reducing your intake or altering how you consume amla, such as in a more diluted form, might alleviate these issues. Concentrating on portion size is practical; a small handful should generally suffice. Additionally, excessive consumption can potentially interfere with blood sugar levels or blood clotting due to its potential effects on platelet function, so people on diabetes or blood-thinning medications should be cautious. While energy boost reports can occur, these aren’t universally experienced and depend on an individual’s overall diet and lifestyle. To sum up, integrating amla in moderation is usually safe, but it is wise to pay attention to how your body reacts and adjust accordingly. If digestive issues persist, reducing intake or discussing with a healthcare provider could provide more personalized advice.
