Doctors’ responses
Missing PCOD meds → missed period = common & reversible.
Do a pregnancy test first, then you can take Provera 10 mg BD x 5 days (if advised by your doctor).
Resume your PCOD regimen consistently from now.
Lifestyle + regular follow-up will bring your periods back to normal.
Hello,
If you are sexually active, confirm you are not pregnant from first If not , you can take Meprate 10 mg / Provera 10 mg once daily for 3-5 days.
Then continue Pcod medication. If no bleeding after 7-10 days, please consult your gynaecologist in person.
Thank you
Missing doses of PCOD (PCOS) medication can disrupt your hormone balance and delay your period, which is likely why your cycle is off this month. To help reset your cycle, resume your prescribed medication consistently, maintain a balanced diet, regular exercise, and proper sleep, and avoid stress as much as possible. Please consult your gynecologist promptly—they may suggest a short course of hormonal therapy (like progesterone) to induce your period safely and adjust your ongoing treatment.
Hello dear See you have already consulted the concerned physician for the treatment I suggest you to please follow below routine for improvement Do meditation Perform intermediate fasting Do physical exercise for atleast half an hour Take medication as per recommended by gynaecologist Take zincovit multivitamin therapy onca a day for 1 month Take vitamin d sachet once a day for 1 month In addition, Please get periodic tests done as recommended by gynaecologist Hopefully you recover soon Regards
Hello Dilrash, I understand your concern. Missing doses can easily delay menstruation leading to missed period. But no need to worry, here is my advise -
1. Kindly rule out pregnancy first by doing a home Urine Pregnancy Test. So that you can take other medicines safely.
2. If UPT is negative, then take this medicine - Tab. Medroxyprogesterone Acetate 10mg × 5 days. You will get your periods after few days of the last dose.
3. Continue your PCOD medications.
Feel free to reach out again. Regards, Dr. Nirav Jain MBBS, DNB D.Fam.Med
Hello Continiue the same treatment as advised by your gynaec doctor. your periods will become normal. Also, start exercises for weight reduction and better effects.
Take care
Hi Dilrash,
As a dietitian & clinical nutritionist, I would suggest you to start with seed cycling.
1st 14 days- Consume Flaxseeds + pumpkin seeds.
“Flaxseeds: Contain lignans, which can help modulate estrogen by binding excess estrogen and supporting balance.”
“Pumpkin seeds: Rich in zinc, which supports healthy follicle development and progesterone production later in the cycle.”
Next 15-28 days- Consume Sesame & sunflower seeds.
“Sesame seeds: High in lignans and calcium, which may help reduce excess estrogen and support hormone balance.”
“Sunflower seeds: Rich in selenium and vitamin E, supporting liver detoxification of hormones and boosting progesterone levels.”
To manage irregular periods, particularly with PCOD, maintaining consistency with prescribed medications is crucial as it directly impacts hormonal balance. If you’ve missed doses, it’s a good idea to get back on track with your medication regimen as prescribed by your gynecologist. Don’t skip doses intentionally, and take them at the same time every day to help stabilize your hormone levels. Lifestyle changes often play a pivotal role in managing PCOD and regularizing periods. A balanced diet rich in whole grains, lean proteins, fruits, and vegetables can support hormonal health. Including omega-3 fatty acids, such as found in fish or flaxseed, might be beneficial. Physical activity, like brisk walking, yoga, or cycling, for at least 30 minutes most days, can also assist in regulating menstruation by improving insulin sensitivity and reducing stress. Stress management techniques such as mindfulness, meditation, or even pursuing hobbies are helpful since stress can contribute to hormonal imbalances. Monitoring your weight is important; both weight loss and gain can disrupt your cycle. Aim for a healthy weight as advised by your healthcare provider. If you’re concerned about your missed period this month, consult with your healthcare provider. Sometimes they might need to adjust your medication or explore further tests to ensure there are no additional underlying issues. If you suspect you might be pregnant, a pregnancy test is advisable. Remember that prolonged disruptions in your menstrual cycle or any concerning symptoms should prompt a timely discussion with your healthcare provider; they can offer guidance specific to your health profile and current situation.
Hello Dilrash On the basis of your presenting complaints and past history Assessment: - It is Secondary amenorrhea likely due to hormonal imbalance from missed PCOD medication - Rule out pregnancy and thyroid dysfunction
Findings: • Missed several doses of prescribed PCOD medicines • No period this month • No abdominal pain, discharge, or pregnancy symptoms
Plan: 1. Do urine pregnancy test (UPT) immediately. 2. If UPT negative → Restart PCOD medicines as per previous prescription. 3. If no period after 10–14 days → than take progesterone withdrawal course (e.g. Medroxyprogesterone 10 mg for 5 days). 4. Continue PCOD medication regularly. 5. Maintain healthy diet, regular exercise, and weight control.
Advice - no need to worry Missed doses often disturb hormonal balance and delay menstruation. Regular medicine intake and lifestyle management should help restore the cycle.
