Hi Tejas, Your symptoms suggest chronic or recurrent balanitis, which can occur due to infection (fungal or bacterial), irritation, or an underlying condition like diabetes or tight foreskin. Here is my advise-

1. Kindly visit a certified Dermatologist or a Family Physician for clear physical examination of your skin issue. Taking consultation like this might land you with wrong medicines that will do more harm than benefit. So, take a proper consult. Till then take Tab. Levocetirizne 5mg at night for itching.

2. Additional Measures: Keep the area clean and dry. Avoid retraction of foreskin if painful. Wear loose cotton underwear.

3. Get done these tests - CBC, Fasting Glucose, Swab/Culture from the lesion.

4. Long-Term Prevention: Maintain daily gentle hygiene. Avoid strong soaps, powders, and antiseptic liquids. Dry the area after urination or bathing.

Feel free to reach out again.

Your symptoms suggest candidal balanitis, and using a topical antifungal cream like clotrimazole or miconazole twice daily for 2–3 weeks usually helps, along with keeping the area clean and dry. Avoid soaps and strong creams like Quadriderm or Betnovate, as they can worsen the irritation. Please consult a dermatologist or urologist to confirm the diagnosis and check for underlying issues such as high blood sugar, especially if symptoms persist.

Hello Tejas,

It seems to be fungal balanitis.

Rx: Candid cream twice daily for 1 -2 weeks.

Clean gently twice daily with lukewarm water only (no soap on the glans). Avoid harsh soaps, antiseptics, or alcohol-based products. Dry gently after washing; don’t rub. Avoid sexual activity until it heals completely. Wear loose, breathable cotton underwear; change daily. Avoid irritants: scented lotions, condoms with lubricants or spermicides. If diabetic, check and control blood sugar -high sugar promotes fungal growth

It persists or not reducing ,please consult a urologist or physician or dermatologist in person.

Hope I answered your concern Thank you

Reducing balanitis and addressing its symptoms effectively involves a combination of identifying the underlying cause and implementing appropriate management strategies. Since you’ve already been maintaining hygiene and avoiding irritants, let’s delve into a few other steps to consider. Ensure you’re wearing loose-fitting, breathable underwear to allow air circulation and prevent moisture buildup, which can exacerbate the condition. You might also consider a moisture-wicking or hypoallergenic fabric. If the white layer you’re noticing is a yeast infection, then a topical antifungal cream like clotrimazole might be beneficial. These are typically available over the counter, and you should apply them as directed on the packaging. If no improvement occurs after a few days, consulting a healthcare proffessional for a stronger prescription might be necessary. Additionally, it’s worthwhile to think about any recent changes in soaps, laundry detergents, or personal lubricants that might irritate your skin. Sometimes, balanitis can result from bacterial infections, and in that case, a physician would prescribe appropriate antibiotics. Make sure to stay hydrated and maintain a balanced diet to support your skin’s health. If the symptoms persist or worsen, it’s crucial to get evaluated by a healthcare provider who can rule out more severe conditions such as sexually transmitted infections or even allergies. In some non-urgent cases, a referral to a dermatologist or urologist might be appropriate if the usual treatments don’t resolve the problem. Attempting to address this without a direction confirmed by a healthcare provider may delay proper treatment and recovery. Address any pain or discomfort with appropriate measures such as over-the-counter pain relievers, following the recommended dosage. Remember, keeping a record of any recurrent patterns or reactions can be helpful during a medical consultation, as it provides key clues to pinpoint underlying issues.

Hi Tejas

- Advise investigations: CBC, viral markers, and VDRL to rule out infection or systemic causes. - Ask about history of sexual contact outside your usual relationship. - Start Tab Augmentin 625 mg every 8 hours. - Perform daily Betadine wash of the affected area. - Clinical follow-up recommended for further assessment and tailored treatment.
