Dr. Bharat Joshi
I’m a periodontist and academician with a strong clinical and teaching background. Over the last 4 years and 8 months, I’ve been actively involved in dental education, guiding students at multiple levels including dental hygienist, BDS, and MDS programs. Currently, I serve as a Reader at MMCDSR in Ambala, Haryana—a role that allows me to merge my academic passion with hands-on experience. Clinically, I’ve been practicing dentistry for the past 12 years. From routine procedures like scaling and root planing to more advanced cases involving grafts, biopsies, and implant surgeries. Honestly, I still find joy in doing a simple RCT when it’s needed. It’s not just about the procedure but making sure the patient feels comfortable and safe. Academically, I have 26 research publications to my credit. I’m on the editorial boards of the Archives of Dental Research and Journal of Dental Research and Oral Health, and I’ve spent a lot of time reviewing manuscripts—from case reports to meta-analyses and even book reviews. I was honored to receive the “Best Editor” award by Innovative Publications, and Athena Publications recognized me as an “excellent reviewer,” which honestly came as a bit of a surprise! In 2025, I had the opportunity to present a guest lecture in Italy on traumatic oral lesions. Sharing my work and learning from peers globally has been incredibly fulfilling. Outside academics and clinics, I’ve also worked in the pharmaceutical sector as a Drug Safety Associate for about 3 years, focusing on pharmacovigilance. That role really sharpened my attention to detail and deepened my understanding of drug interactions and adverse effects. My goal is to keep learning, and give every patient and student my absolute best.

Weak, thin hair and problems with scalp hair growth can have various underlying causes, including genetic factors, nutritional deficiencies, hormonal imbalances, or lifestyle stressors. First, consider evaluating your diet because nutrient deficiencies, like low levels of iron, zinc, or biotin, can lead to hair thinning or loss. Including a variety of foods that are rich in these nutrients might be beneficial—think spinach, nuts, and lean meats. Also, hormonal imbalances such as thyroid disorders or androgenetic alopecia could impact hair health and growth. It may be worth consulting with a healthcare professional who can perform appropriate blood tests to rule out these issues. Stress is another common factor affecting hair, so managing stress through relaxation techniques or regular physical activity may help improve hair health over time. Harsh hair treatments, excessive heat styling, and tight hairstyles can damage hair and lead to breakage or thinning. Reducing these can allow hair the chance to regain some strength and volume. If you’re seeing significant hair loss, you may want to ask a dermatologist about treatments like minoxidil, which is clinically proven to promote hair growth. Make sure you’re using mild shampoos and avoiding chemicals that can dry out or damage your hair, and consider a scalp massage, which might improve blood circulation and stimulate hair follicles. In situations where hair loss is significant or rapid, or if you notice other symptoms like patches of baldness or irritation on the scalp, it’s crucial to seek a professional evaluation quickly. This ensures any serious condition is identified and treated promptly. Always prioritize interventions that are safe and based on sound evidence to move towards healthier and thicker hair.
