Doctors’ responses
Yes, you should take Cholecalciferol (Vitamin D3) weekly + Methylcobalamin 1500 mcg daily. Correcting these deficiencies will help reduce hair fall and improve energy levels
Thank you.
Hi Avnish,
Yes Avnish, You are absolutely correct. 1.You have to take Cholecalciferol -once weekly * 6-8 weeks (Take after a meal with some milk/curd for better absorption) 2.Methylcobalamin 1,500 mcg once daily (after breakfast).
You can take Iron + folic acid + zinc also Also add calcium, protein rich foods for better results.
🛑And please recheck Vitamin D & B12 blood tests after 3 months
I hope this settles your concern Thank you
Hello Avnish,
Your hairfall is probably related to your vitamin deficiencies.
Cholecalciferol once a week is good for replenishment of Vit-D in your body. Plus, get a bit more exposed to sunlight, especially morning sunlight.
But for Vit-B12, if you want good and timely results, take injections instead. Methycobalamin 1500mcg tablets will work, but they’ll take their time to show their effects.
Feel free to reach out again.

1. Your Vitamin B12 (240) is on the lower side and Vitamin D (13.7) is very deficient, both can cause hair fall, weakness and fatigue.
2. Yes, methylcobalamin 1500 mcg can be taken but usually doctors prefer weekly injections initially if levels are very low, followed by oral supplements.
3. For Vitamin D, cholecalciferol 60,000 IU once a week for 6–8 weeks is commonly prescribed, then shifted to once monthly maintenance.
4. Along with supplements, take a protein-rich diet (eggs, milk, pulses, nuts) to support hair growth.
5. Sunlight exposure 20–30 mins daily will also improve Vitamin D naturally.
6. Please consult a physician for exact dosage and duration, as self-medication may not correct the deficiency fully.
With proper correction of Vitamin B12 and D, your hair fall will improve gradually in 2–3 months.

Hello dear As u mentioned that your b12 borderline and vitamin d3 are low It can cause to many reasons Vitamin b12 can cause neurological issue and low vit d3 can cause joint pain body ache zinc deficiency also cause hair fall Your complain is hair fall Now a days it’s major problem vitd3 and b12 deficiency Sachet cholecalciferol once a weekly Tab methylcobalamine 1500mcg once after dinner or breakfast ITS GOOD TAB REARLY cause side effect it’s water soluble Tab zinc 1 od SUN EXPOSURE VERY IMPORTANT Early morning AND according to your age it can be due to hormone also Go for testosterone and androgen level also Stay hydrated
Your vitamin D level (13.7) is quite low and usually requires supplementation with cholecalciferol (Vitamin D3) as prescribed by a doctor, often in weekly or monthly doses depending on severity. A B12 level of 240 is borderline low, and methylcobalamin or other B12 supplements may be recommended, but the exact dose (like 1500 mcg) should be tailored to your needs. Please consult a physician to confirm the right dosage and duration, since hair fall can also have multiple other causes beyond vitamin deficiency.

Vitamin deficiencies can indeed be linked to hair fall, and addressing these deficiencies might help improve your hair’s condition. Your vitamin D level of 13.7 ng/mL is considered quite low, as optimal levels are typically above 30 ng/mL. Supplementing with cholecalciferol (vitamin D3) is commonly recommended, and it’s generally advised to start with a weekly dose of around 50,000 IU for those with significant deficiency, although lower daily doses can also be prescribed by your healthcare provider. Regarding vitamin B12, your level of 240 pg/mL is on the lower side of the normal range. Supplementation with methylcobalamin is a good option, and doses often range from 1000 to 2000 mcg daily. However, it is essential to individualize your supplement plan based on personal health evaluation, lifestyle, and comorbidities. Therefore, a consultation with a healthcare provider is recommended to tailor the dosing regimen appropriately, monitor levels over time, and address any contributing factors like dietary habits or absorption issues. Meanwhile, considering your symptoms, it might also be useful to have a broader look at other potential causes of hair loss, like iron deficiency, thyroid dysfunction, stress levels, and scalp health. Avoid self-prescribing high doses over extended periods without medical guidance due to potential risks such as hypervitaminosis D or other complications. Regular follow-up with a healthcare provider for monitoring is important to ensure safe and effective correction of deficiencies and improve your overall health status.
