Doctors’ responses

Feeling heavy after drinking cold water and being in an AC environment could be affecting your respiratory system, potentially causing irritation or leading to dryness in your throat and chest. The first step is to ensure you’re staying adequately hydrated by drinking plenty of room-temperature water. This can help soothe your throat and chest, potentially reducing the sensation of heaviness. Running a humidifier in your room may also assist, as maintaining optimal humidity levels can prevent the airways from becoming too dry, especially in an air-conditioned space. Warm fluids like herbal teas or broths can be quite soothing, offering added hydration and helping to ease your dry cough. You might also consider avoiding irritants such as smoking or exposure to smoke and strong odors. If the cough persists or the chest heaviness doesn’t subside, it would be wise to consult with a healthcare professional to rule out any underlying conditions, like infections or allergies that might be contributing to your symptoms. In some cases, if symptoms are linked to environmental factors like dryness from AC, simple adjustments to your immediate environment, along with ensuring your air conditioning units are regularly maintained and clean to prevent potential irritants, might significantly alleviate your discomfort. Should the severity of symptoms increase, or if any new symptoms arise, seeking medical attention is necessary to ensure there isn’t a more serious condition present.
