Doctors’ responses
Your symptoms — recurring pus-filled rash with burning, chills, and flu-like signs — suggest a viral or skin infection that may be reactivating, such as herpes or a similar condition. The pigmentation and scarring can remain after healing if not treated properly. Specialist consultation is advised (Dermatologist).

Based on your description, what you’re experiencing might be a recurrent viral or bacterial infection, potentially herpes simplex virus (HSV) which can cause painful lesions with pus, chills, body aches, and flu-like symptoms. Another condition to consider is impetigo, a bacterial skin infection that can cause pus-filled sores. The fact that it leaves scars and pigmentation suggests some level of tissue damage and inflammation. The recurrence on your neck alongside similar systemic symptoms indicates that the infection might be spreading or your immune system is not effectively clearing it. It’s crucial to seek medical attention for a thorough evaluation. Doctors may perform tests such as cultures or blood tests to identify the exact pathogen. Treatment typically involves targeted antibiotics for bacterial infections or antivirals for viral infections like HSV. Ensure you complete the entire course of any antibiotics or antivirals as prescribed by a healthcare professional. Additionally, maintaining good skin hygiene and moisturizing regularly can help prevent secondary infections. Over-the-counter topical treatments may help mitigate the symptoms short-term, but they won’t address the underlying cause. If recurring infections are suspected, your doctor might suggest lifestyle adjustments, or consider whether there is an underlying condition affecting your immune function. Given the combination of skin lesions and systemic symptoms, it’s important to address this promptly to prevent further complications or spread. Please consult with a healthcare provider who can provide more effective guidance tailored to your specific situation.
