how to reduce forehead size - #16993

Shaurya

I am starting to feel pretty self-conscious about my forehead size. It seems like forever that I've been teased about it, but lately, it really seems to get to me. Like, just the other day, I was taking some selfies with friends and all I could focus on was my forehead! I can't tell you how many times I've scrolled through Instagram and thought about how to reduce forehead size after seeing all these models with smaller foreheads. I mean, is it just me or do most people have more balanced features? I tried some bangs once, but they just made my forehead look even more noticeable. Ugh, the struggle! I’ve even considered makeup tricks, like contouring, but I'm not sure that really counts as 'how to reduce forehead size' the right way. Are there actually exercises or treatments that work? I read a bit about hairline surgeries too, but that seems extreme. Sometimes I think maybe I'm just overthinking it, but like, a lot of my friends say they’ve noticed it too. Anyway, just looking for any advice on how to reduce forehead size because I'd love to feel more confident for once! Any thoughts?

Doctors’ responses

Feeling self-conscious about physical features like forehead size is quite common. If you’re looking to reduce forehead size, there are several options to consider, depending on your comfort level and interest in invasive or non-invasive methods. Makeup, as you’ve mentioned, can offer some temporary changes. Contouring techniques can create the illusion of a smaller forehead by strategically using shadows. This isn’t a permanent solution, but it can be an effective and immediate way to shift focus. Hairstyles can also play an important role: bangs can sometimes help balance facial proportions, but they do require some experimentation to find a style that feels right for you. If you’re considering more permanent solutions, surgical options like hairline advancement or forehead reduction surgery exist, but they carry risks typical of surgery, including infection and scarring, and should be thought through carefully with a qualified medical professional. Non-surgical treatments, like certain laser therapies, might improve skin texture, but won’t affect the structural size of your forehead. Exercises to change forehead size aren’t feasible—forehead proportions are largely determined by bone structure, which can’t be altered through exercise. It’s important to approach such changes safely and consider any medical procedures carefully. If you’re interested in medical interventions, consulting with a board-certified surgeon specializing in this area would be essential to discuss potential outcomes and risks. Remember, while these options exist, everyone’s ideal balance of features can vary widely, and considering these options should be guided by your own comfort and desire for change rather than external pressures.
