When dealing with heavy hair fall at 15, potential causes could be hormonal changes, nutritional deficiencies, or stress-related factors, all common in adolescence. While temporary hair shedding, known as telogen effluvium, is relatively typical during hormonal shifts, it’s essential to assess if this is more significant or chronic. First, ensure a balanced diet rich in iron, zinc, vitamin D, and B vitamins, all important for hair health. You could incorporate more leafy greens, nuts, lean proteins, and fortified cereals. Also, hydration and proper scalp hygiene are crucial. Sometimes, simple over-the-counter shampoos tailored for strengthening hair can help reduce breakage. All this while, minimize the use of heat styling devices or harsh chemicals. If after a few months, you’re not noticing improvement, it would be wise to consult a healthcare provider to explore underlying health issues like thyroid imbalances or androgenetic alopecia, which can affect young males due to genetic predisposition. A physician might consider conducting a blood test to evaluate iron levels or thyroid function. They may also recommend a dermatologist to determine if a topical treatment like minoxidil is suitable. Be cautious with products without proven efficacy; it’s better to rely on treatments backed by clinical evidence. Tracking patterns and associated symptoms can also aid professionals in diagnosing. If anxiety or stress appears to correlate with the hair fall, consider stress-reduction techniques or speaking with a counselor, as mental well-being often reflects on physical health, including hair conditions.
