how to get rid of stomach worms home remedies - #20933

Shanaya

I am really worried because my little boy has been complaining about a bad stomach ache for the last week. I thought maybe it was something he ate, but then he mentioned feeling really itchy at night and that got me thinking — could it be worms? I’ve heard about stomach worms but I don't know much about them. We want to try and avoid a trip to the doctor if we can help it, especially with everything going on right now. I’ve been looking up home remedies and I wonder how to get rid of stomach worms with home remedies? Are there any that you all recommend? I read garlic can help, but how much should he eat? Also, we’ve tried some natural things like pumpkin seeds, but I'm not sure how effective those are. What else can we do at home to get rid of stomach worms? I’m really hoping we can clear this up before it gets worse. Should we be cautious about anything or can they just go away with these home remedies? I’ve been stressing about it, I really don't want him to suffer! Please help me figure out how to get rid of stomach worms effectively at home.

Doctors' responses

If your little boy is experiencing stomach ache and itching at night, it’s possible he might have pinworms. While certain home remedies like garlic or pumpkin seeds are often mentioned, their effectiveness hasn’t been scientifically proven for treating worm infestations. Garlic can be incorporated into meals and it’s generally safe in typical culinary amounts, but relying solely on it isn’t a guarantee for resolving a worm infestation. However, maintaining good hygiene is crucial. Make sure he washes his hands regularly, especially after using the restroom and before eating. Keep his nails short and discourage nail-biting. Regularly wash bedding and pajamas in hot water to help reduce the risk of reinfestation. Vacuuming and dusting can also help minimize eggs from spreading.

Even though home remedies can be tempting, a trip to the doctor is really essential in this case. A medical professional can provide an accurate diagnosis through a simple “tape test” and prescribe effective medication like mebendazole or albendazole, which are safe and reliable treatments for pinworms. Also, treating all family members might be necessary to prevent reinfection, even if they aren’t showing symptoms. Please keep in mind that without proper diagnosis and treatment, worms can spread easily. If symptoms persist or worsen, consulting a healthcare provider is important to avoid complications and ensure comprehensive treatment for your son’s discomfort.
