blood in head - #21722

Sia

I am really worried. For the past few weeks, I've been feeling these strange pressure headaches that just won't go away. A few days ago, I noticed some dizziness and then a little while later I started seeing what looked like tiny spots of blood in my vision — I know that sounds crazy, but I swear it wasn't just my imagination. I talked to my friend who’s a nurse and she mentioned "blood in head" but I tried to brush it off. Still, that thought keeps coming back, you know? I mean, could there actually be blood in head, or is it just a sign that I'm stressing out too much or maybe not sleeping enough? I had an MRI last month for a different issue — totally unrelated, they said — but I keep wondering if that could somehow be connected? The doctor said everything was normal back then. Should I be getting another scan or something? My head feels heavy. I just can’t shake off this creepy feeling. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? I really don’t want to be overreacting, but "blood in head" sounds serious, right? Would love any insights or thoughts on this!

Doctors' responses

The symptoms you’re experiencing, like persistent pressure headaches, dizziness, and spotting blood in your vision, certainly warrant further investigation. These could potentially indicate a serious condition. What you’re describing could be related to issues like a subarachnoid hemorrhage or other types of bleeding in the brain, though there are also less severe causes. Such symptoms could point to problems with blood vessels in the brain, like aneurysms or arteriovenous malformations. However, it is essential not to jump to conclusions until it’s properly evaluated by a healthcare professional. Given that you had an MRI last month, it’s reassuring that significant issues might have been ruled out at the time, but with these new symptoms, follow-up is important. An MRI or CT scan can help assess any changes or developments in your condition since your last scan. It might not be related to stress or lack of sleep, especially with the symptom of seeing blood spots in vision, which suggests something more neurological. I advise you seek immediate medical attention — don’t hesitate to contact your doctor or go to an emergency department. Prompt evaluation would be vital to exclude or diagnose any serious conditions. Avoid delaying looking into this further because serious conditions in the brain need to be addressed promptly to avoid complications. The earlier they’re assessed, the better the outcomes usually are. Describe your symptoms in detail, and let the professionals decide on the appropriate tests. It’s always safer to be cautious, especially when it comes to neurological symptoms. While internet forums can provide insights, only professional medical evaluation can ensure a safe course of action.
