can we apply curd on oiled hair - #24388

Keya

I am dealing with this whole hair dilemma and really not sure what to do. My hair has been super greasy lately, probably due to me using way too much hair oil after a recent treatment. I heard some folks saying that applying curd can actually help with oily hair, you know, like balance things out or whatever. But like, can we apply curd on oiled hair? I mean, is mixing the two even ok? I have heard that curd can be great for improving hair texture and making it shiny, but I’m a little worried that putting it on top of oiled hair might just make the whole situation worse. I've tried rinsing my hair and using dry shampoo but nothing really helps! A friend mentioned the idea of using curd as a kind of mask, especially since it’s supposed to have good bacteria and stuff, but I’m hesitant. I dont wanna end up with a gooey mess or anything and if curd and oil combine negatively, it could make things real messy, right? So can we really apply curd on oiled hair in a way that might actually work, or should I just wait until my hair is cleaner to give it a try? Would really appreciate any advice or tips!

You can apply curd to oiled hair, but it may not be as effective as when applied to clean hair. Curd is often touted for its natural conditioning and potential benefits in improving hair texture and reducing oiliness due to its content of probiotics and lactic acid. However, when your hair is already coated with oil, the curd might not properly penetrate and nourish your hair or scalp as intended. Applying curd on top of the oil could potentially lead to a more greasy or sticky feel, which might not be what you’re hoping for. If you’re intent on using curd to balance out the greasiness and boost your hair health, consider rinsing your hair with a gentle shampoo first to remove excess oil. This way, the curd can have a better direct effect on your hair and scalp. Once your hair is clean and slightly damp, you can apply curd as a mask—letting it sit for about 20–30 minutes, then rinsing it out thoroughly with lukewarm water for best results. Remember, individual responses can vary, so it might be helpful to try this when you have some free time and can observe how your hair takes to the treatment. Alternatively, if you’re dealing with persistent oiliness, you might want to assess and possibly adjust your hair care routine as frequent washing or excessive use of oil may sometimes backfire, exacerbating oil production. Finally, if you notice scalp irritation or changes that concern you, consulting a dermatologist or a trusted haircare professional could provide insights tailored to your specific condition.
