for how much time multani mitti should be applied - #24628

Mira

I am really confused about something, and I could really use some advice. I've been thinking about using multani mitti for my skin, cause i've read that it can help with a lot of things like acne and oily skin. My friend swears by it and says it’s been a game changer for her! But here's the thing — I tried it last week, and I'm not sure if I did it right. I put it on for like 10 minutes, but I don't know…maybe it should have been longer? Like, for how much time multani mitti should be applied? I’ve seen some people say 15 min, others say 30 min, and its so confusing! I want to make sure I make the most out of it. My face felt kinda tight after, but maybe that's normal? Or am I supposed to feel different? Also, I've got sensitive skin, and I don’t want to end up making things worse. Should I mix it with something too? I mean, there are like a million tutorials online saying different ways to use multani mitti, so I just need to know the best way to go about it! Any advice from you guys would be awesome. How long should I be leaving it on? Am I doing this whole multani mitti thing right?

While using multani mitti, commonly known as Fuller’s Earth, can be beneficial for your skin, especially when dealing with oil and acne, there are a few things to keep in mind. Typically, it’s advisable to apply multani mitti as a mask for about 10 to 15 minutes. If you’ve got sensitive skin, sticking to the shorter end of this time range is generally better to minimize the risk of irritation. Once it starts to feel tight, it’s a signal that it’s time to wash it off, as leaving it longer can lead to over-drying, which might actually trigger more oil production or irritation.

Considering your sensitive skin, mixing multani mitti with some soothing agents can help reduce the potential for irritation. Common combinations include mixing it with yogurt, rose water, or aloe vera gel. These additions not only make it more gentle on the skin but can also offer further benefits like hydration and calming effects. You might want to avoid using it too frequently; applying once a week can be a good starting point to gauge how your skin responds. Monitor your skin’s reaction, and if you notice redness, excessive dryness, or any discomfort, it’s crucial to reassess the use or consult a dermatologist. Be cautious with any other active skincare ingredients you use in conjunction, as they may interact and cause skin irritation. Since there are varied opinions and tutorials, it’s wise to start simple, listen to your skin’s feedback, and adjust accordingly.
