which hair cut is best for hair growth - #24683

Anya

I am struggling with my hair growth, and it feels like nothing I do is really working. Last year, I decided to go for a big chop thinking it would help, but honestly, it just made me more anxious. I’m currently letting it grow out, but I wonder which hair cut is best for hair growth. My hair is super thick but it gets so frizzy and split ends are all over! I’ve read that some styles can promote growth, but I don’t really know what to look for. Should I go for layers, or is it better to keep it one length? I did a trim a few months-back, and it felt nice at the time, but now I’m just overwhelmed. Do bangs affect the overall health of hair? Can anyone share insights on which hair cut is best for hair growth based on their experience? I'm kinda at my wits end trying to figure this out, and I just want my hair to feel healthy and actually grow instead of just hanging there limp. If you have any tips or tricks, that'd be awesome!

While there isn’t a specific haircut that directly stimulates hair growth, certain approaches can help maintain hair health and minimize damage, which in turn supports growth. Hair grows from the roots, and external trims do not directly influence this process, but regular trims are beneficial. Trimming every 6-8 weeks can help manage split ends that, if left unchecked, can cause hair to break. It sounds counterintuitive, but keeping ends neat and free from damage helps maintain the length you gain as your hair grows from the roots. As for style, layers can be a practical choice for thick, frizzy hair. Layers can reduce bulk and manageability, which often decreases the perception of frizz. They might not make the hair grow faster but can give it a healthier and more balanced look. Bangs usually don’t affect the overall health of hair as long as they’re trimmed regularly to prevent split ends. When considering your hair’s overall health, focus also on nutrition and scalp health. A diet rich in vitamins and minerals like biotin, zinc, and iron supports healthy hair growth. Collagen supplements or a protein-rich diet can help strengthen the hair shaft. Ensuring that your scalp stays clean and well-moisturized can create optimal conditions for growth. If frizz is a major concern, using gentle, sulfate-free shampoos and conditioners and applying leave-in conditioners or serums can help smooth the hair cuticle. Letting hair dry naturally when possible and minimizing heat styling will also reduce damage over time. Consult with a hairstylist for a cut that complements your lifestyle and hair texture, or a dermatologist if persistent hair health concerns continue.
