Doctors’ responses
When lymph nodes remain swollen for 40 days, even if they’re small and reactive, it’s important to keep monitoring them, especially if they haven’t decreased after treatment. Typically, reactive lymph nodes can take a while to return to normal after an infection, since the immune response lingers. It’s good that there are no alarming symptoms like night sweats or losing weight, but continuing to track the situation is a smart move. Make sure you’re staying hydrated, as this can help lymph nodes drain and reduce swelling. Also, applying a warm compress to the area can sometimes provide some relief. Since your lymph nodes are stable and you don’t have other worrying symptoms, following up with your healthcare provider is a good idea. They might want to reassess you for any lingering infection or other causes that might be contributing. A physical examination could offer more insights. If the nodes persist without changes or get bigger, your doctor might suggest further investigations, like another CT or maybe a biopsy, to ensure nothing more than the prior infection is causing this persistance. If you notice any new symptoms or changes in how you feel, bring these to your doctor’s attention right away.
