How to know if my ear perforation from diving needs surgery or can heal with medicine? - #30202
Left ear problem started after diving in dirty canal water. During the dive, I felt sudden strong pressure/water entering the ear. After that, hearing became muffled and reduced, with intermittent sharp stabbing pain. Yellow sticky discharge with fish-like smell continued for around 14+ hours. Pain has reduced somewhat now, but occasional sharp pricking still happens. One doctor examined and said there is a perforation (hole) in the eardrum and prescribed ZIS-BIOTIC. Another doctor said surgery may be needed. I want to know if this looks like temporary perforation/infection that can heal with medicine and observation, or if surgery is really necessary right now.
