why skin gets dark - #15330

Anvi

I am really worried about my skin lately. A few months ago, I noticed that some parts of my face and arms started to darken, especially around my cheeks and on my forearms. I don't spend that much time in the sun, and I always wear sunscreen, but it doesn't seem to help. I’ve tried a couple of creams that promise to lighten dark spots, but honestly, they haven't done much. My friend mentioned it's because of something related to melanin, but I don’t really understand it. Why does skin get dark in certain areas? Like, could it be hormonal? Sometimes I feel like my diet might play a role as well — I eat a lot of spicy food and maybe that's affecting something? Also, I have a bit of stress with work and I’m not sleeping well. Could that impact why my skin gets dark? I’ve read about hyperpigmentation online, but it gets confusing. Is it just age catching up with me or is there something more serious going on? I'm thinking of seeing a dermatologist but I don't even know what questions to ask. Why skin gets dark in these spots, especially when I thought I was taking good care of my skin? Any insights would be super helpful!
