how to use multani mitti on hair - #23694

Drishti

I am really curious about how to use multani mitti on hair because I’ve been dealing with some serious scalp issues lately. A few weeks ago, I started noticing my hair feeling really heavy and greasy, even just after washing it, ugh! My friend suggested trying multani mitti, she swears by it for her hair, says it does wonders, but I’m a bit lost on how to use it properly. Do I mix it with water? Or should I combine it with other ingredients? And like, how long do I leave it on? Last week, I tried adding it to my usual conditioner, but I think I messed it up and it just made my hair feel super dry and flaky... not fun! I’ve read that multani mitti can help with oiliness and even dandruff, which I’ve been struggling with too. How to use multani mitti on hair seems simple enough, but I just can’t seem to get it right! Anyone have tips or personal experiences on the best way to do this without ruining my hair even more? Thanks for your help!

Using multani mitti on your hair can indeed help with oiliness and dandruff, and it’s relatively straightforward once you get the hang of it. Firstly, multani mitti, also known as Fuller’s Earth, is great at absorbing excess oil and impurities, making it a popular choice for both scalp and skin issues. To begin, you’ll want to create a paste that can be easily applied to your scalp. Mix around 2-3 tablespoons of multani mitti with water to form a medium consistency paste. You could also blend it with other ingredients like aloe vera gel or a few drops of tea tree oil if you’re dealing with dandruff, as these have soothing and antimicrobial properties.

Avoid mixing it with conditioner, as you found it could lead to dryness. Instead, apply the paste directly to your scalp and the roots of your hair, avoiding the ends which can be more prone to dryness. Leave the paste on your scalp for about 15-20 minutes before rinsing it out thoroughly with lukewarm water. It’s important not to let it sit too long because it can become difficult to wash out and may dry out your hair.

Do this treatment once a week and monitor how your scalp responds. If you notice that your hair is becoming too dry, you may want to reduce the frequency or hydrate your hair more with a leave-in conditioner or a lightweight oil after the treatment. If your scalp issues persist despite these treatments, it might be a good idea to consult a dermatologist to rule out any underlying conditions. It’s also good to ensure your shampoo is gentle and suitable for your hair type. Persistent or severe scalp issues may require medical advice to avoid complications.
