what does curd do to hair - #23718

Om

I am really curious about what does curd do to hair because I’ve been hearing so much about it from friends lately. Last week, I decided to give it a shot since my hair has been feeling super dry and frizzy. I bought some plain yogurt and applied it directly to my hair after watching a video on Instagram claiming that curd is a miracle for moisture. While I was waiting with it in my hair, I couldn’t help but wonder, like, what does curd do to hair? Does it actually make a difference? People online say it helps with shine and reduces split ends, but I didn’t notice much immediately. I’ll admit it felt kinda greasy, but maybe that's normal? The next day I shampooed it out carefully but still wasn't sure if I did it right. When they say, what does curd do to hair, is it really just about conditioning? Or should I be mixing it with something? I've seen recipes that throw in honey or even coconut oil, but is that necessary? My hair still feels a bit off. Do you think I didn’t leave the curd in long enough? Just feeling a bit lost here and looking for some advice on what does curd do to hair. Any insights?

Curd, or yogurt, can indeed be a beneficial hair treatment for some people, mainly because it’s rich in lactic acid, which has moisturizing properties. It can help condition the hair and make it feel softer and smoother. The proteins in curd may also help strengthen the hair strands, which is why some people believe it can reduce split ends over time. However, it’s not an instant fix, so if you didn’t notice much difference right away, that’s fairly normal. Curd’s effectiveness really depends on your individual hair type and condition.

The greasiness you felt might be due to the texture and thickness of the yogurt itself. Some people mix curd with other ingredients like honey or coconut oil, which are known for their moisturizing benefits too. The addition of honey, for instance, could enhance shine and help to seal in the moisture. Coconut oil is another popular addition as it’s known for its deep conditioning effects; however, it might also contribute to that greasy feeling if not washed out thoroughly.

As for the application, leaving curd in your hair for about 20 to 30 minutes is typically a good duration. Longer might not necessarily improve the effect and may lead to an uncomfortable or oily residue. You mentioned feeling unsure about the process; make sure to rinse the curd out completely and follow up with your regular conditioner if needed for an additional smooth feel. If your hair still feels off, it could be due to lingering residue, either from the curd or inadequate rinsing.

If you continue to find that curd doesn’t suit your hair, it might be worth exploring other natural or commercial hair treatments specifically designed for moisturizing and conditioning. Consider consulting with a dermatologist or a professional hairstylist if your hair concerns persist, to get tailored advice that fits your specific hair needs and lifestyle.
