how to increase hair strength - #23911

Aarav

I am really worried about my hair. Lately, it's been falling out more than usual, and I feel like it's not as strong as it used to be, like when I was younger. I mean, just a few months ago, I could run my fingers through it without any problems, but now it’s breaking so easily. I even noticed at the gym, when I tied it up, the hair strands were snapping! I’ve tried some shampoos and conditioners that promise to help but honestly, I don’t see much difference. I need suggestions on how to increase hair strength because I feel lost here. I read online that diet could also play a role, and I did change my eating habits a bit, but maybe not enough? I used to consume a lot of protein, but now I'm more into carbs. Could that be part of the issue? What about supplements? Are there any safe ones that actually work? Also, I've heard conflicting things about oils—do they really help in how to increase hair strength or are they just a gimmick? I don’t want to try random products that might just make it worse. Anyone have solid, real advice on how to increase hair strength that actually helped them?

To enhance your hair strength, let’s start by evaluating a few potential causes and interventions. Diet indeed plays a significant role in hair health. A shift towards more carbohydrates and away from protein could influence your hair resilience. Proteins are crucial as hair is primarily comprised of a protein called keratin; ensure you’re consuming enough lean proteins like chicken, fish, or beans. A balanced diet rich in iron, zinc, vitamin D, and omega-3 fatty acids is also important. Consider blood tests to rule out any deficiencies.

Supplements can be useful if you’re not getting enough nutrients from diet alone. Biotin is popular for hair health, but its effectiveness is mainly in those with actual deficiency. Taking a multivitamin that covers the basics might be more beneficial to ensure you’re not missing anything crucial.

In terms of topical treatments, not all oils are a gimmick. Coconut oil can penetrate the hair shaft and help reduce protein loss, while argan oil can improve hair’s elasticity and moisture. Apply these oils sparingly to your hair, focusing on the ends—avoid the roots to keep from greasing.

Avoid over-washing hair, excessive heat styling, and chemical treatments which can contribute to hair damage. Opt for a gentle, sulfate-free shampoo, and condition regularly. Reducing stress can also positively affect hair health, as stress can exacerbate shedding. If despite these efforts hair loss persists or worsens, a visit to a dermatologist could provide insights into underlying conditions like hormonal imbalances or even alopecia, conditions that require professional intervention.
