how long to keep curd on hair - #24149

Vikram

I am really curious about something and could really use some clarity. I started using curd on my hair after reading about its benefits online, you know, like it’s supposed to make your hair shiny and strong. Last week, I mixed some curd with a bit of honey and applied it to my scalp. The thing is, I got kinda busy with work and ended up leaving the curd on for almost three hours, oops! I was worried at first, thinking maybe that was too long for my hair type. I usually have dry hair, and I've tried all sorts of remedies before but nothing seems to work that well. Now, I'm left wondering, how long to keep curd on hair really? Is there a set time that's best? I mean, I read somewhere that too much time could make it hard to wash out, but it felt okay when I rinsed, just a bit slippery and heavy. Didn’t want to overdo it, but I kinda want to know if I should stick to the usual 30 minutes or if it’s okay to leave it longer sometimes. If you have any ideas about how long to keep curd on hair, I’d appreciate any advice! Thanks!!!

Leaving curd on your hair generally for around 30 minutes is a reasonable timeframe most people follow. It’s enough time for the nutrients like proteins and vitamins, which can be beneficial for your hair health, to absorb without causing issues when rinsing out. If you have dry hair, curd might help add some moisture and shine due to its hydrating properties, and mixing it with something like honey can enhance that effect since honey is a natural humectant. Leaving it on for about a half hour should provide a good balance, allowing you to get the benefits without making your hair feel heavy or leaving residue that might be harder to wash out. Having said that, leaving it on for longer, like you did, usually won’t cause harm though it might get a bit trickier to rinse out thoroughly. It sounds like it worked fine for you this time, but consistently keeping it on for hours can lead to build-up over time, which isn’t ideal especially if your hair tends toward dryness already. As always, it’s about finding a balance that works with your routine and hair texture. If you find longer times aren’t causing any issues and you feel good about how your hair responds, you might be alright extending beyond 30 minutes occasionally. Just make sure to rinse thoroughly and use a mild shampoo to prevent any leftover residue that might weigh your hair down. Consider also continuing to explore other conditioning treatments, ensuring a variety, as sticking to one treatment too frequently might not provide all-round benefits your hair needs.
