is sugarcane juice good for loose motion - #24155

Zoya

I am trying to figure out if sugarcane juice is good for loose motion. A few days ago, I started feeling unwell after eating some street food, and now I've had loose motions for the last three days. It's so frustrating, and nothing seems to help! I remembered that my grandma used to say sugarcane juice is good for digestion and all that, so I thought maybe it could help me recover. I even went to the local store and got some fresh sugarcane juice. I drank a glass yesterday and felt a little bit better, but then today, my tummy started acting up again. Does anyone know if sugarcane juice is good for loose motion really? Like, are there any benefits, or could it make things worse? I don’t want to make things worse, but I'm also kinda tired of plain water and bland food. I’ve read mixed things online. Just wondering if sugarcane juice is good for loose motion based on your experiences or anything from professional opinions. Also, what else can I do to help with this situation?

Sugarcane juice might not be the most effective solution for treating loose motions, particularly if the diarrhea is due to an infection or food-related issue, as it appears to be in your case. While sugarcane juice does have some beneficial properties, such as being hydrating and potentially providing some electrolytes, it can also contain sugar and may not address the root cause of your symptoms, which often involves an imbalance in the gut caused by bacteria or viruses from contaminated food. To manage loose motions effectively, it’s crucial first to maintain hydration with oral rehydration solutions or drinks that replenish both fluids and electrolytes. Plain water is important but won’t provide electrolytes that are lost during diarrhea. Avoid caffeine and alcohol as they can exacerbate dehydration. Eating a bland diet can help settle your stomach; BRAT diet — bananas, rice, applesauce, and toast — is often recommended because these foods are gentle on the digestive system. It’s important to avoid dairy, greasy foods, and high-fat foods until you’re feeling better. However, if you experience high fever, severe abdominal pain, or blood in your stool, it’s important to seek immediate medical attention, as these could be signs of a more severe infection requiring treatment with antibiotics or other medication. If symptoms persist beyond a few days, consulting a healthcare provider would be prudent to rule out significant causes and receive tailored advice. While sugarcane juice may be okay occasionally for hydration purposes, relying on it exclusively isn’t advisable. Consider trying probiotic supplements or yogurt with live cultures, as they can help restore the balance of healthy bacteria in your gut. Overall, address hydration and diet and keep an eye on any worrisome symptoms that might need further medical evaluation.
