Doctors' responses

Neck pain radiating to the arm or hand and also affecting the leg, with accompanying burning sensations, can be concerning and may point to a more significant issue involving the nerves or spine. It’s good that you’ve had an MRI; that’s an essential step in identifying any structural abnormalities such as a herniated disc, spinal stenosis, or other nerve compression issues that might be causing these symptoms. If the MRI findings were inconclusive or if your symptoms have progressed since it was done. It might be worth discussing with a neurologist or spine specialist to ensure nothing has been missed. Management wise, several options depend on the underlying cause. Conservative measures include physical therapy which can help improve posture and strengthen the muscles around your neck and spine, potentially alleviating nerve pressure. Medications like NSAIDs or corticosteroids might reduce inflammation, whereas neuropathic pain medications such as gabapentin or pregabalin can help specifically with burning or nerve pain. For persistent pain, cortisone injections are sometimes considered to decrease inflammation and pain around irritated nerves. For now, avoid positions or activities that exacerbate your symptoms, maintain good posture, and consider using supportive devices like a cervical collar only under professional guidance. However, if there are signs like severe weakness, loss of bowel or bladder control, or if the pain becomes unbearable, you should seek immediate medical intervention to prevent potential permanent nerve damage.
