Bumps and irregularities after a septorhinoplasty at 47 days are not uncommon and can result from several factors, including residual swelling, scar tissue, or cartilage irregularities. At this stage of healing, it’s likely that swelling could still be contributing to the appearance of a bump or deviation. Swelling can persist for several months, sometimes even up to a year, especially in the nasal area, which can make it challenging to fully assess the final shape and contours. Scar tissue might also develop during the healing process, potentially creating a temporary irregularity in the nasal profile. However, it’s also possible that the underlying structure, like cartilage or bone, wasn’t completely corrected or has shifted slightly during the healing phase. To differentiate whether what you’re seeing is primarily due to swelling or structural issues, it’s essential to have a follow-up consultation with your surgeon. They can conduct a physical exam and, if necessary, imaging studies to gauge the root cause of the bump. If swelling is the culprit, time is generally the remedy, although your surgeon might suggest certain interventions like corticosteroid injections to reduce inflammation. For scar tissue, sometimes gentle massaging techniques are advised, but only under your surgeon’s guidance. If the issue is indeed a structural imperfection like a persistent hump or deviation, remedial options may include revision surgery, but this is usually considered after a full healing period to allow for any residual swelling to subside. It’s important to communicate with your healthcare provider regularly to monitor changes and ensure optimal outcomes while considering how such decisions might fit into your overall lifestyle and well-being. Avoid making any conclusions or decisions about the final appearance until your surgeon assesses it comprehensively.
