Could I possibly be pregnant? Realistically I don’t think I could be but I’m scared

Somerlyn

My period is spot on every month. Symptoms and all. This month I’ve been having cramping for 5 days.I don’t get my period for another week. And the pain is now mainly on my left side. For 2 days I had a more frequent urge to pee but that went away.

Cramping a week before your period, especially on one side, could be due to ovulation pain, an ovarian cyst, or a mild urinary tract issue. Since the urge to pee has resolved but pain persists, it’s best not to ignore it. Consult a gynecologist to rule out cysts, infections, or any other underlying concerns.

See a doctor urgently if: Pain becomes sharp, severe, or constant

You have fever, vomiting, or dizziness

You miss your period and UPT is positive

You have pain during sex or bleeding between periods

This could be a normal ovulation-related pain or a minor functional cyst. Most cases resolve within 5–7 days without treatment. Track your cycle and note if symptoms repeat in the next cycle.

The symptoms you’re describing could have a few different explanations, and while pregnancy is a possibility, it’s certainly not the only one. Since your period is regular and expected in about a week, early pregnancy symptoms would typically not develop quite so soon, but it’s not impossible either. Cramps and localized pain could sometimes indicate an ovarian cyst, which is not uncommon and could cause discomfort on one side. If the cramping is new or unusually intense, it might be worth considering this explanation. Urinary symptoms, like increased frequency, could suggest a urinary tract infection (UTI). It’s good that the urgency subsided, but if it returns or if you experience burning, cloudy urine, you might want to get a urinalysis. An ectopic pregnancy, where a fertilized egg implants outside the uterus, could cause one-sided pain, but it’s usually accompanied by bleeding or significant pain around the time a missed period would occur. If you suspect pregnancy, particularly if you’ve had unprotected intercourse, an over-the-counter pregnancy test can provide clarity, especially if taken after a missed period. If the pain worsens, if you develop additional symptoms like fever, nausea, or spotting, seeing a healthcare provider would be beneficial to rule out conditions that might need immediate attention. Meanwhile, keeping track of your symptoms in a journal could help your healthcare provider with diagnosis later on.
