Pigmentation issues and dryness around the lip area can be troubling. Considering a lip laser treatment might be premature without understanding the underlying causes, so I’d recommend a detailed approach. First, it’s crucial to determine if the pigmentation is due to external factors, such as sun exposure or smoking, or if there’s an underlying medical condition. Consulting a dermatologist is key; they can asses whether laser treatment is appropriate or if topical treatments would suffice. Your use of kojic acid is a good step, as it’s effective for lightening hyperpigmentation. However, it’s vital to ensure it’s done safely, as overuse can cause irritation. For persistent pigmentation, consider incorporating products with niacinamide or azelaic acid which are known to help with discoloration. Regarding the dryness of your lips, a routine application of a high-quality, hydrating lip balm with SPF can be very beneficial to both protect and moisturize your lips, preventing further pigment change from sun damage. Examine lifestyle factors too; staying well-hydrated and minimizing sun exposure can help. If moisturizing and over-the-counter solutions don’t work, a dermatologist might suggest more potent treatments or advanced therapies. Be wary of home remedies or non-prescribed treatments, as they can sometimes exacerbate the condition. It’s important to approach treatments prudently and consult a professional for personalized advice.
