A delay in your menstrual period can be due to a variety of reasons, and it’s understandable to be confused and concerned, especially after unprotected intercourse. Since you’ve already conducted multiple urine pregnancy tests (UPT) with negative results, it seems less likely that pregnancy is the cause unless the tests were taken too early or not according to instructions. If you have used the tests correctly, waiting a few more days before taking another test might be an option, as the pregnancy hormone hCG needs time to build up to detectable levels. Aside from pregnancy, other factors could contribute to a delayed period, including stress, hormonal imbalances, significant changes in weight or exercise habits, and conditions like polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) or thyroid disorders. If your period doesn’t start within a week or so, or if you continue to feel anxious, it would be a good idea to book an appointment with your healthcare provider. They can perform a comprehensive evaluation, which might involve a blood test for pregnancy (which is more sensitive than UPTs) as well as assessing for other underlying conditions that might be affecting your menstrual cycle. Meanwhile, tracking any other symptoms you might be experiencing could provide additional insights during the consultation. If you’re in severe pain or experiencing any unusual symptoms like heavy bleeding or fainting, seeking immediate medical attention is important. Ensure that you follow through on consulting with a healthcare professional who can offer tailored advice based on a thorough clinical examination and understanding of your medical history.
