Doctors’ responses
The combination of your symptoms and test results suggests a possible neurological or inflammatory issue, especially given the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) findings. The elevated protein levels, low glucose, and high white blood cells—particularly lymphocytes—indicate an inflammatory process, possibly meningitis or another central nervous system infection, but with normal CT and MRI, infections like viral, tuberculous, or fungal meningitis could still be considered. The elevated ADA (Adenosine Deaminase) levels in the CSF could point towards tuberculous meningitis, which often requires advanced testing and clinical correlation for a clear diagnosis. However, other conditions like autoimmune disorders, malignancies, or less common diseases such as neurosarcoidosis might also be at play. It’s critical to follow up with a neurologist or an infectious disease specialist who can further interpret your CSF analysis in the context of your systemic symptoms like weight loss and persistent weakness. You might require additional tests such as specific cultures, PCR for tuberculosis or other pathogens, and possibly consultation to rule out other systemic inflammatory or infectious diseases. If you’re experiencing new symptoms or worsening, such as further weight loss or increased weakness, it’s essential to re-evaluate promptly to ensure timely intervention. Your safety and the potential for serious underlying pathology mean that swift action is necessary.
