how to get rid of pimples in one day - #16287

Amara

I am dealing with this really frustrating skin issue and I’m desperate to find out how to get rid of pimples in one day. Last week, I woke up and found two really big, red and painful pimples on my cheeks, like, just out of nowhere! I never really had severe acne before, but now they seem to take over my whole face. I tried my usual cleanser, but they got worse! I've been doing some at home remedies like ice and some toothpaste, which felt kinda silly but I was willing to try anything, and there still here the next morning. Few days ago, I tried witch hazel and a charcoal mask, but I still can't figure out how to get rid of pimples in one day. Should I be using a product with benzoyl peroxide? My skin is pretty sensitive, and I'm worried about making it worse, but I've got plans this weekend and I don't want to look like a pizza face! Would any of you guys suggest something that might actually work fast? Like, I need instant results, any over-the-counter solutions that could help? Really appreciate any tips or tricks on how to get rid of pimples in one day!

Doctors’ responses

While it can be really tempting to seek a quick fix for pimples overnight, realistically, it’s quite challenging to completely eliminate them in just one day. However, you can try some strategies to reduce their appearance and inflammation efficiently. Applying a product with benzoyl peroxide can be quite effective since it works by killing bacteria and drying out the pimple. If you’ve got sensitive skin, opt for a formulation with a lower concentration, around 2.5%, to minimize irritation. Azelaic acid is another option that helps with redness and inflammation and is typically better tolerated by sensitive skin. Using an ice pack for about 5-10 minutes can help decrease swelling and redness — it’s non-invasive and worth a shot when you’re in a pinch. You might also consider applying a sulfur treatment, as sulfur helps remove dead skin cells and has a drying effect on pimples. Whether it’s an overnight spot treatment or a mask, be sure to follow the instructions and don’t overuse, as too much can lead to drying out your skin or triggering further irritation. To prevent more pimples and control oil build-up, consider using a gentle salicylic acid cleanser, but avoid scrubbing too hard. Always moisturize afterward with a product suited for sensitive, acne-prone skin to keep the balance in check. Finally, resist the urge to pop or pick at them — not only does this risk infection, but it can also worsen inflammation and lead to scarring. If your problems persist or worsen, it may be worth consulting a dermatologist for more personalized advice and potential prescription options.
