best pediatric neurologist in delhi ncr - #18685

Yuvan

I am super worried about my son, he’s 8 and has been having these random seizures for the past few months, maybe like 3 or 4 times? At first, we thought he was just daydreaming or something, but then we saw this twitching and he apparently lost consciousness for a bit last week. I took him to our family doctor and they mentioned we should consider seeing a specialist, like the best pediatric neurologist in delhi ncr, but we’re kinda lost on where to start. I tried looking online and there are so many opinions, some even say different thing about the best pediatric neurologist in delhi ncr which makes it confusing. Like, should I be looking for someone with a lot of experience specifically with kids who have seizures? What tests should we expect? He had some blood work done already, but I feel like we need more guidance to figure this whole thing out. It’s just the waiting and uncertainty that really has me frazzled! Can anyone recommend the best pediatric neurologist in delhi ncr or share their experiences? Honestly, I have no idea what comes next and I just want to make sure he’s taken care of. Thank you so much!

Doctors' responses

Dealing with your child’s health, especially when it involves seizures, can feel overwhelming, so focusing on finding the right specialist is key. In Delhi NCR, there are several top pediatric neurologists known for their expertise in managing seizures and neurological conditions in children. Dr. Rakesh Kumar Jain at Max Super Speciality Hospital and Dr. V. P. Singh at Medanta - The Medicity are often recommended for their extensive experience in pediatric neurology. They are recognized for their comprehensive approach to diagnosis and treatment. When looking for a neurologist, it’s crucial to seek someone who not only has the requisite training and experience but also demonstrates a thorough understanding of children’s developmental needs and the subtleties in pediatric seizure disorders.

Regarding the next steps, a specialist will likely recommend an EEG (electroencephalogram) to evaluate the brain’s electrical activity, which is crucial for diagnosing seizure disorders. In some cases, MRI might be suggested to get detailed images of the brain’s structure to rule out any underlying problems. Blood tests you’ve already done are part of a standard workup to exclude metabolic or other systemic issues that might contribute to seizures. While waiting for a specialist appointment, keep a log of seizure activity (frequency, duration, any triggers or preceding symptoms) as this information will be very helpful in assessing your son’s condition. Also, ensure safety measures are in place to prevent injury during a seizure, such as keeping the environment around him safe and being aware of basic first aid for seizures.

It’s essential to trust in the process of finding the right care for your son. The pediatric neurologist will guide you through a personalized treatment plan based on the investigations done and your child’s specific needs. The reassurance that this specialist care brings will help reduce some of the uncertainty and provide a clearer path forward. If seizures increase in frequency or severity, or if new symptoms develop, you should not delay in seeking urgent medical care.
