what is the use of multani mitti - #22515

Rian

I am feeling a bit lost here. For a while now, I've been noticing my skin acting super weird. It's like one minute I have this oily mess and then next my face is all dry and patchy. A friend recommended using multani mitti, but honestly, I have no clue what the use of multani mitti is. I mean, she said it helps with oil control and even brightens the skin, but is that even true? I tried googling “what is the use of multani mitti,” but there’s just too much info out there. Like, is it good for all skin types or just specific ones? Oh, and do I need to mix it with something? I'm worried it might dry out my skin even more or cause a breakout. I used some other masks that promised good results, but I ended up looking like a pizza! I just want something simple that works, you know? Have any of you ever used it? What is the use of multani mitti really, and how do I apply it without making my skin worse? I really need some tips here, any advice would be awesome!

Multani mitti, also known as Fuller’s Earth, has been a traditional skincare ingredient especially in South Asia for ages. It’s essentially a clay substance known for its oil-absorbing properties. That’s why you’ve heard it can help control oiliness and contribute to clearer skin. It acts by unclogging pores, reducing excess oil, and helping to dry out acne. For someone with combination skin like yours, it could indeed aid in balancing oily and dry patches. However, using it correctly is crucial to avoid further skin imbalance or irritation. It’s particularly beneficial for oily and acne-prone skin, but it can be used by others with caution. Since you have concerns about dryness, adding certain ingredients can help maintain moisture. Mixing multani mitti with a hydrating component like honey, yogurt, or aloe vera gel can mitigate the drying effect. Each of these has its benefits – honey offers hydration and has antibacterial properties, yogurt acts as a natural moisturizer, and aloe vera is soothing. To use multani mitti, you can make a paste by mixing 1-2 tablespoons of the powder with your chosen ingredient until you achieve a smooth consistency. Apply this evenly on your face, avoiding the sensitive eye area, and leave it on for about 10–15 minutes, then rinse with lukewarm water. Try it once a week initially and see how your skin responds. If you notice any excessive dryness or irritation, it’s wise to discontinue use or modify the mixture to better suit your skin type. Bear in mind that if your skin issues persist or worsen, consulting a dermatologist can provide a more personalized approach and potentially uncover any underlying conditions.
