can we start new things on amavasya - #24774
I am really curious about this, like, can we start new things on amavasya? I’ve heard these different beliefs about it but I'm in a bit of a tight spot. Last month, I got laid off from my job and I’ve been really wanting to start my own business. Some friends said I should wait until a full moon or whatever, but amavasya is coming up next week and I was thinking that maybe starting something then wouldn’t be that bad. I mean, I get that amavasya is supposed to be a time for reflection and letting go of the past, but with the way my bills are piling up, the thought of waiting feels like forever. I've always been a bit superstitious, but honestly, does it really make such a huge difference? Like, can we start new things on amavasya or should I really be cautious here? I also read somewhere that it’s actually a good time for planning and thinking things through more carefully, which does sort of resonate with me. Have any of you gone against the belief and started a new project during amavasya? Did anything bad happen, or was it fine? Just, I really don’t know what to think right now and any insights would really help!

Doctors' responses
The concept of starting new ventures on amavasya is largely rooted in cultural and astrological beliefs rather than scientific evidence or medical considerations. From a medical or clinical perspective, there’s no direct impact of amavasya on health-related matters, so decisions like starting a business don’t have a medical basis affected by the lunar calendar. If you’re considering beginning a new business during amavasya, it’s really more about timing based on practical aspects of your situation, like financial readiness, market conditions, and personal well-being, rather than the specific day in the lunar cycle. It’s indeed a noteworthy time traditionally viewed as conducive to introspection and planning, but if you’re feeling urgent due to financial pressures, practical matters might take precedence. Starting a business is fundamentally about having a sound plan, resources, and capacity to manage stress, rather than any particular day being inherently better or worse. In circumstances where finances are tight, focusing on sustainable planning and ensuring a realistic business model alignment with current market demands might be more crucial than waiting for a particular phase of the moon. If you feel ready with a solid plan, you might prioritize what you need to get started over any superstition or tradition. The best advice would align with practicality and preparedness rather than specific days on the calendar. Ultimately, the success of your business will be more tethered to your market understanding, strategy, execution capability, and a bit of luck than the choice of starting it on amavasya.
