how to drink acv - #24875

Aditi

I am really confused about how to drink acv. My friend has been raving about apple cider vinegar and its supposed health benefits, so I thought I’d give it a try. I bought a bottle, and I’m not sure if I’m doing it right. First time I mixed a tablespoon with just water, and wow, that taste was a little overwhelming! I’ve read online that you can add it to all sorts of drinks, but I’m just trying to figure out how to drink acv without feeling like I'm downing a shot of something nasty! I know some people dilute it more or even add honey for sweetness, but is that really effective? Like, how diluted should I go? And what if I have it with a meal? Does that change how to drink acv? Last week I also heard it can help with digestion or something, but I’m not sure how that works either. Can drinking it straight actually hurt your throat or stomach? I really wanna benefit from acv but honestly, is it worth the trouble? Any tips on the best ways to drink acv would be super helpful!

Drinking apple cider vinegar can be a bit of an acquired taste, and it’s important to use it wisely for potential health benefits without causing irritation. You’re on the right track by mixing it with water, but you might want to try diluting it further. Usually, two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar in a full glass of water is a good starting point to make it more palatable and safer for your teeth and throat. Adding honey or a pinch of cinnamon can improve the taste. Drinking it with meals can aid in digestion, possibly due to its acid content, which might help with the breakdown of food, but evidence is not very strong on this.

Avoid drinking vinegar straight, as its acidity can damage tooth enamel and irritate your throat or stomach lining. It’s best to consume it through a straw to protect your teeth. As for the health benefits, while some people swear by them, the evidence supporting significant benefits is limited. Drinking apple cider vinegar may help with blood sugar regulation or appetite control to a degree, but it’s not a miracle solution. If you’re considering it for a specific health goal, it should complement other healthy practices, not replace them.

Also, be cautious if you have underlying conditions like acid reflux or stomach ulcers as it could exacerbate symptoms. Always listen to your body and start slowly to see how you respond. It’s advisable to consult with a healthcare provider, especially if you’re planning to incorporate apple cider vinegar regularly into your diet. Based on your personal health circumstances, there might be reasons to modify or avoid its use altogether.
