Severe pimples with pus and odor on the nose suggest a need for more targeted treatment than just over-the-counter face wash. Given your symptoms, it’s likely that you’re dealing with a moderate to severe form of acne, and possibly some bacterial involvement. An important step would be to clean your face gently with a mild, non-comedogenic cleanser twice a day. Your current face wash may be too harsh or not suitable for your skin type. In terms of topical treatments, considering a cream containing benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid might be helpful as these ingredients help reduce inflammation and clear clogged pores. You might also benefit from a topical antibiotic like clindamycin or a retinoid, but these are typically prescription medications, so it’d be necessary to consult with a dermatologist.
It’s crucial to avoid picking or squeezing the pimples as this can worsen the situation and lead to infection or scarring. Regarding oral treatment, a short course of antibiotics could be needed if there’s a significant infection; again, this requires consultation with a healthcare provider. Since the issue with the odor suggests an element of infection, seeking professional assessment is advisable. Lifestyle factors like diet, stress levels, and sleep also play a role. Ensure you maintain a balanced diet, manage stress, and get adequate sleep as they can impact your skin’s health. If the symptoms worsen or don’t improve within a few weeks of starting treatment, see a dermatologist. They can provide a comprehensive evaluation and recommend a personalized treatment plan tailored to the severity of your acne and skin type.
Hello
At age 17, painful pimples on the nose with pus, oily skin, clogged pores, and mild odor are most commonly due to infected acne or inflamed pores, a condition called Acne Vulgaris. The smell can happen when bacteria and trapped oil collect inside the pores. Since this started less than a week ago, it is usually treatable with simple medication and skin care.
Using only a face wash like Pond’s Men Energy Charge Face Wash may not be strong enough to treat infected pimples. A medicated topical treatment is often needed.
What usually helps first: Use a gel containing Benzoyl Peroxide once daily on the affected area, keep the skin clean but avoid over-washing (2 times daily is enough), avoid squeezing pimples, and use a light, non-oily moisturizer if the skin becomes dry.
Tablets (oral antibiotics) are not usually needed for pimples present for only one week unless there is severe swelling, spreading redness, fever, or many large painful boils.
See a doctor if the pus, pain, or smell worsens, if swelling spreads around the nose or face, or if there is no improvement within about 2–3 weeks.
Regards Take care
