Given your symptoms and the side effects you’re experiencing with L-cin, it’s essential first to consult with your doctor immediately about the adverse reactions. L-cin, or levofloxacin, is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic that can cause dizziness, nausea, and other more serious side effects. Your doctor can assess whether stopping L-cin is the best course. Meanwhile, regarding an alternative antibiotic, Nitrofurantoin, the active component in Nitrobact, already covers many common bacteria causing urinary tract infections. If symptoms persist, considering switching to a different antibiotic class might be necessary, such as a cephalosporin like cefpodoxime or a beta-lactam like amoxicillin-clavulanate, but only under direct medical supervision. Your urine culture results, if available, would help guide these choices, selecting an antibiotic specific to the bacteria responsible. As for Urispas (flavoxate) and its role in alleviating urinary discomfort, if it’s helping with your symptoms and not causing issues, you may continue it, ensuring it doesn’t conflict with any new medications. Increasing hydration and avoiding irritants like caffeine or alcohol can aid comfort and recovery. Also, given your earlier mentioned fever and blood in urine, it’s essential if symptoms worsen or the fever persists, there’s an urgent need to contact your healthcare provider, as untreated or ineffectively managed UTIs can lead to complications such as kidney infections.
