Seeking Alternative Antibiotic for UTI Symptoms and Side Effects

Client_7c5170

Hello doctor, I’m having symptoms of a Urinary Tract Infection since the day before yesterday, pain while urinating, frequent urge, and I noticed a little blood once. I also developed fever. I got a urine test done which shows infection. I was prescribed Nitrobact 100 mg BD, Urispas TDS, and L-cin 500 OD. After taking L-cin, I am experiencing continuous dizziness, nausea, and chest/throat discomfort, and I’m not able to tolerate it. Can you please suggest an alternative antibiotic and tell me if I should continue the other medicines?”

It seems like you’re dealing with a typical urinary tract infection (UTI), and the symptoms you’re describing after taking L-cin (Levofloxacin) could be side effects that are making it difficult for you to continue. It’s important to address these adverse effects and consider an alternative treatment. First, discontinue the L-cin if you haven’t already, as the symptoms you’re experiencing require attention. Instead, you could potentially switch to another class of antibiotics that has generally good coverage for UTIs, like Nitrofurantoin (Macrobid) or Trimethoprim-Sulfamethoxazole (Bactrim). These options are often well-tolerated and might suit you better. However, this switch should always be confirmed with a healthcare professional who can review your full medical history, allergies, and the specific bacterial cause if known. Meanwhile, continue taking the Nitrobact 100 mg and Urispas as they can help with the pain and urinary symptoms. Ensuring you stay well-hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids can assist in flushing out the bacteria causing the infection. If you’re still having fever or worsening symptoms, or notice more blood in your urine, it’s crucial to see a doctor promptly to reassess your condition. Such symptoms could indicate a more serious infection that might need immediate medical attention. Also, bear in mind that while you manage these symptoms, do not overexert and ensure you’re resting well. Seek medical advice as soon as possible to adjust your medication safely and monitor any changes in your condition.
