Having a fever for four days could indicate your body is fighting an infection or inflammation. Given the duration and the fact you’re not eating much, it’s essential to listen to your body. Start by monitoring your temperature regularly. If the fever persists above 100.4°F (38°C) consistently, it’s time to consider seeing a doctor. This is especially true if you also experience other symptoms such as a persistent cough, severe headache, rash, sore throat, unusual tiredness, or difficulty breathing. Staying hydrated is critical now, even if you’re not feeling hungry. Try to take in plenty of fluids - water, clear broths, or oral rehydration solutions can help. Electrolyte powders are useful too, as they replenish minerals lost via sweat. Eating small, easy-to-digest meals can also support your recovery. Things like toast, rice, bananas, or applesauce can be gentle on your stomach. You might also find it helpful to take over-the-counter medications like acetaminophen or ibuprofen, which can lower fever and alleviate discomfort. Make sure there’s no contraindication for you to take these medicines. Also, on bowel movements, constipation for several days might be due to less food intake or dehydration. Ensuring adequate fiber intake and continuing to drink fluids can help relieve this. If you also develop symptoms like severe abdominal pain, bloating, or unresolving constipation, this could need immediate medical attention. It’s important to watch your symptoms closely because in certain cases recurrent or untreated fever could hint towards more serious, underlying issues requiring medical intervention.
