A dent or depression in the nose following a traumatic impact like being hit by a cricket ball could be due to a fracture or more superficial soft tissue injury. After 50 days, if the dent persists, it’s important to consider a few possible underlying issues. If there was a fracture that’s healed in a displaced position, it may require an evaluation by a specialist, usually an ENT or maxillofacial surgeon, to determine if surgical intervention is necessary to correct the deformity. Non-surgical options might involve fillers, but these are generally temporary and won’t address any bone misalignment. If the problem is more aesthetic or affects breathing, cosmetic procedures, such as rhinoplasty, might be a consideration. It’s essential to get an imaging study, like an X-ray or CT scan, to assess any structural damage to the nasal bones or cartilage. Assuming there’s no severe deformity or breathing issues, but just a surface dent, consulting a dermatologist or plastic surgeon might offer treatments like fillers or laser therapy to improve appearance. However, these should only be considered once a fracture has been ruled out or addressed. In the meantime, avoid any additional trauma to the area, and consider using cold compresses sparingly for any lingering swelling. Seeking a professional medical opinion is important to prevent future complications and determine the most effective course of action based on the specific nature of the injury.
