What to do after being diagnosed with high-grade DCIS and no further treatment is needed? - #29909
I am a cancer patient who underwent a mastectomy of the affected breast. I had two biopsies to determine whether I needed further treatment, such as chemotherapy or radiation. I was diagnosed with ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) in my left breast. I underwent a total mastectomy without lymph node dissection. A follow-up biopsy confirmed the presence of high-grade nuclear intraductal carcinoma (comedocarcinoma). There was no evidence of invasive carcinoma. The skin and nipple were intact and unaffected. No lymph nodes were affected or examined. My doctor said my case is unusual and I don't need further treatment. What should I do?
