Headaches can indeed be linked to high blood pressure, especially if it’s consistently elevated. However, headaches that occur in specific situations, like after sleeping in the day, might have additional causes. Posture during rest, dehydration, or even eye strain from tailoring work might contribute to her symptoms. Considering her high blood pressure readings—like 150/100—managing these levels is crucial to prevent further complications. Lifestyle adjustments such as reducing sodium intake, regular physical activity, and managing stress can be beneficial. But alongside these, regular monitoring and a discussion with her healthcare provider about potential medication adjustments are advisable. They might suggest antihypertensive medications if lifestyle changes alone don’t stabilize her BP. For the headaches, she might try adjusting her sleeping position or ensuring proper neck support. Eye strain can also correlate with headaches, so having a recent eye exam to inspect her prescription could be helpful. Encourage adequate hydration and, if feasible, short breaks during her work to reduce prolonged eye strain. It’s vital to track when these headaches occur—note the time of day, typical activities beforehand, and any dietary factors that may coincide. If headaches persist or worsen, it would be wise to seek further evaluation to rule out other conditions like migraines. In any case of sudden, severe headache or other symptoms like vision changes, she should seek immediate medical attention to rule out any acute problems like hypertensive crisis. Also, using basic analgesics like paracetamol may relieve mild headaches but should not replace addressing underlying conditions.
