If you develop fever, cough, throat pain, breathing difficulty then have a re-consultation or get a physical consultation done at your nearest hospital, as some modifications may be needed in the treatment. Some tests too, if high fever.

Managing flu symptoms like joint pain, headache, and fatigue requires an integrated approach. Firstly, address pain and fever with over-the-counter medications such as ibuprofen or acetaminophen. These can help relieve body aches and headaches commonly associated with influenza. Remember to follow dosing instructions carefully. For congestion or cough, consider using a decongestant or an expectorant, but be wary of potential interactions with other medications or health issues you might have. Maintaining hydration is crucial, so drink plenty of fluids like water or herbal tea, and rest as much as possible to support your body’s recovery process. Having trouble sleeping due to congestion might be alleviated by using a humidifier or taking a warm shower before bed. Creating a calm, dark environment to encourage restful sleep can be beneficial too. Regarding antiviral medications, if you are within the first 48 hours of symptom onset, these may be effective, but you’ll need to consult with a healthcare provider for a prescription and their suitability for you. If your symptoms persist beyond a week or worsen, or if you experience signs like difficulty breathing, chest pain, or high fever, seek medical attention promptly. Regarding a doctor’s note, you typically need a physical or virtual consultation for a healthcare provider to issue one, as they will need to assess your condition in person or through a telehealth platform. Contact your healthcare provider or a local clinic to arrange for an appropriate consultation for this.
You may take paracetamol for fever, body ache, and headache, and drink plenty of fluids to stay hydrated, as most flu illnesses improve with rest and supportive care. If symptoms worsen, breathing becomes difficult, fever lasts more than 3 days, or you cannot sleep due to severe discomfort, you should seek urgent medical attention. Please consult a physician or infectious disease specialist for proper evaluation, especially if you have underlying medical conditions or do not improve.
