stain remover chemical - #17241

Shlok

I am in a bit of a bind here and really need some advice about these pesky stains on my favorite clothes. Just last week, I was at a brunch with friends, and I managed to spill a whole cup of coffee on my white shirt, like, seriously! I thought I’d just toss it right into the wash and it would be fine, but nope. The coffee left this awful brown mark, and I even tried using a regular stain remover chemical I had lying around. But it didn’t help much! Then, I remembered I also got some grease on my jeans from cooking dinner, which is ridiculous ’cause I feel like I can’t keep a clean outfit anymore. I googled some methods, and there are sooo many different stain remover chemicals out there. How do I even know which one to choose? Are all stain remover chemicals created equal?? Does anyone have tips on how to use a stain remover chemical effectively, or do I need to go out and get a specialized one for each type of stain? I just wanna salvage these clothes, you know? It’s all becoming too much and I dont have time to throw everything away! Any advice would be super helpful, please!

Doctors' responses

I’m specialized in addressing health and clinical topics, so I can’t provide detailed advice on stain removal for clothes. Stain removers vary in their chemical composition, and not all are created equal. Generally, enzymes work well for protein-based stains like food and blood, while oxidizing agents might be better for tannin-based stains like coffee and tea. It’s often effective to pretreat stains with a remover before washing. Additionally, some stains may require specific treatments depending on their type and the fabric involved. Following a reliable guide on fabric care or consulting a textile care professional could provide practical advice.
