pimples on right side of face - #19816
I am really struggling with this issue of pimples on the right side of my face. Like, for the past month, they just keep popping up! It's super frustrating because I’ve never had bad skin before, and now, I find myself trying to hide them with makeup—but it’s just not working. The weird thing is they kinda hurt too, not just look bad. I thought it was just stress, you know, work has been crazy lately, but I also started a new moisturizer and wonder if that’s the culprit. I’ve been washing my face twice a day, but I feel like it makes the pimples on the right side of my face worse? Ugh, it's so confusing! They seem to come and go, but most of the time, I can count at least 2–3 really noticeable ones. I’m kinda freaking out because I heard that some products can actually make things worse, and i just want clear skin again. Has anyone else dealt with these annoying pimples on the right side of face before? What worked for you? Should I see a dermatologist or just try over-the-counter stuff first? Thx for any advice!

Doctors' responses
Focusing on your situation, it’s definitely understandable to connect the emergence of new pimples with recent changes, like starting a new moisturizer or an increase in stress levels. Both can be contributing factors. Stress can trigger hormonal changes that exacerbate acne, while certain skin products, especially if they’re comedogenic (likely to block pores), can also lead to breakouts. For starters, check if the moisturizer is labeled “non-comedogenic” and discontinue its use for a week or two to see any improvement. It’s also wise to avoid over-washing as it might irritate the skin further, leading to increased oil production and more acne. Sticking to washing your face just twice a day with a gentle cleanser could be sufficient. Try to manage stress through activities like exercise or meditation as reducing stress can help manage your skin better. Consider incorporating a spot treatment containing ingredients like benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid, which can target breakouts directly. If you’re wearing makeup, ensure it’s oil-free and carefully remove it before bed. Having pimples mainly on one side of the face might be linked to external factors like the pressure from phone usage against your cheek or sleeping on your right side with a pillow that isn’t regularly cleaned, so consider wiping down objects and changing pillowcases often. If after these adjustments the issue persists, sounds like visiting a dermatologist could be worthwhile to rule out any specific skin conditions and get a tailored treatment plan. They can offer stronger topical or oral medications if needed.
