rubbing papaya on face - #19862

Pari

I am really curious about rubbing papaya on face. I heard a friend mention it, saying it worked wonders for her skin. I’ve been struggling with some breakouts and dullness, and at this point, I’m willing to try anything! I did a little Googling, and apparently, papaya has those enzymes or whatever that can help exfoliate? But, like, can it really be that simple? Last week, I rubbed papaya on face after I bought one from the market, and honestly, I was kinda surprised. My skin felt really soft afterward! But should I be doing that regularly or is it like too much? I noticed some redness after the second time, which made me wonder if it wasn't good for all skin types. I kept applying aloe vera after to soothe it, but am I overdoing it with the rubbing papaya on face? Has anyone else tried this? What results have you seen? Am I wasting my time, or could this actually help my skin issues? Just feeling a bit overwhelmed with the options and need some honest advice, pls!

Rubbing papaya on your face could potentially be beneficial due to its natural enzymes, primarily papain, which can act as a gentle exfoliant by breaking down dead skin cells. This might help with issues like dullness and even minor breakouts, as exfoliation can unclog pores and improve skin texture. However, it’s important to be cautious and consider a few factors before making it a regular routine. While some people may experience positive effects, the natural enzymes in papaya can be too potent for sensitive skin, leading to redness or irritation, as you noticed. This is likely due to the exfoliating action which, when overused, can disrupt the skin barrier, causing sensitivity. If you’re already seeing redness after the second use, it suggests your skin might need more time to adapt or the frequency might be too much. I’d recommend starting with a patch test on a small area before applying it to your entire face, just to check your skin’s tolerance. Using it sparingly, such as once a week, can reduce the risk of irritation. Following up the papaya application with a soothing agent like aloe vera was a good move; it can help calm any potential inflammation. Keeping this product simple and ensuring you’re not using too many active ingredients concurrently could prevent overwhelming your skin. But remember, if you continue to experience persistent redness or discomfort, it might be better to stop and consider consulting with a dermatologist for tailored advice, particularly if your breakout issues don’t improve. Skin routines can be highly individual, and what works for one person may not be suitable for another, especially when dealing with natural ingredients that can have varied effects.
