removal of blackheads on nose - #19868

Krishna

I am dealing with this super frustrating issue with the removal of blackheads on my nose. Like, I've tried everything, right? Exfoliating scrubs, pore strips, even those fancy serums. Just the other night, I spent like 30 minutes in front of the mirror trying to squeeze them out. Ugh! Talk about a mess. I've watched all these YouTube videos that say they have tips for the removal of blackheads on nose, but nothing seems to work. My skin is kinda oily, especially in that T-zone, and it feels like I am stuck in this endless cycle. I've read about steams and DIY masks too, but I wonder, are those really effective? My friend told me to consider professional extractions, but I’m worried about that. Is that a better route for the removal of blackheads on nose or does it just lead to more breakouts? Sometimes I even think, maybe I should just embrace them, but really? Who wants that? I want smooth skin, not this dotted disaster! Anyone have success stories or advice on the best way for the removal of blackheads on nose? I’m getting kinda desperate here!

Doctors' responses

Dealing with blackheads can indeed be challenging, especially in the oily T-zone area of the nose. The key is to focus not just on removal but also on regular prevention. You’ve mentioned trying exfoliating scrubs and pore strips, but sometimes less is more. Over-exfoliation or aggressive squeezing can irritate the skin and lead to more blackheads or potential scarring. In terms of effective treatments, using a gentle chemical exfoliant, like a salicylic acid cleanser, could help. This can penetrate into the pores and dissolve debris. Incorporating it into your routine 2-3 times a week can keep your pores clearer. As for steam, it can temporarily open pores, making it easier to remove blackheads. However, it should be followed by a cool rinse to close them back up, minimizing the chances of new debris entering the pores. DIY masks containing clay are good for absorbing excess oil, which might help in prevention. When it comes to professional extractions, they can be effective if performed by a certified professional who maintains proper hygiene and uses sterile tools. Be cautious of doing it too frequently as it can occasionally lead to breakouts if the underlying causes like oily skin and clogged pores aren’t managed. For prevention, adding retinoid cream to your regimen might help to reduce oiliness and improve the texture of the skin. Remember, don’t skip moisturizer, opt for a non-comedogenic one to keep skin balanced. Ensuring a consistent, tailored skincare routine and keeping hands off your face as much as possible can yield smoother skin in time. If the problem persists or worsens, visiting a dermatologist can provide you with personalized advice and treatment options.
